Putting aside the iTunes issue, this seems otherwise confined to Norton and began after you installed the product. Your Norton application may not have installed properly. Try uninstalling and reinstalling NIS, using the Norton Removal Tool. Be aware that the NRT will remove all Norton products so if you have other programs, such as Norton Ghost, you would need to reinstall them also after using the tool,
I have seen a couple of reports online where a program called WindowBlinds from a company called Stardock has caused an issue like you are experiencing. You don't have that program installed, do you?
By any chance did you perhaps set up a profile in your video settings for any games or any special programs? Have you watched any 3 D movies or anything like that? Do you have a mouse that you can set up different profiles for that and switch profiles by hitting a button on your mouse? I know my mouse can be programmed to do things like that.
Also, please let us know exactly what video card driver you have and who the manufacturer is.
To do this, please go to start menu and type in device manager in the search box. When the Device Manager window comes up, plesae find Display Adapters in the list (should be near the top). Click on the little arrow to the left of Display Adapters to expand the selection. You should have just one display adapter listed. Right click this entry and select Properties.
Click on the Driver tab. We need to know the Driver Provider, Driver Date, Driver Version and Digital Signer information.
Also, a couple of other questions. The laptop model you provided earlier was Toshiba Satellite T135D. Is there something else after T135D? For example something like T135D-S1320?
Also is your Windows 7 32 or 64 bit?
Double check the other entries in Device Manager and make sure there are no warnings or errors displayed for anything. Any device should automatically be expanded if there is a problem with it.
What version of Office are you using? Can you please check out this link and see if there is anything helpful there? Also, what encoding are you using? Does changing the encoding make any difference in some of the websites? Have you added any fonts or have any programs that you have installed added any fonts. I have read that fonts folder in win 7 can become corrupt very easily if there are too many fonts in the folder. Sometimes these fonts can be hidden also, not all of them, but some.
Sorry I haven't logged in in a few days and there are a bunch of posts here that I haven't addressed. I'll try to summarize them all here. I have tried everything except last post about MS Office which I'll try in a bit.
I tried Iscannow test but that didn't do anything.
I have not played any 3D movies (actually didn't know that would be an option). I do use iTunes and Netflix to watch movies.
I do not know about any strange buttons on my mouse that can change settings. I use a Wacom CTE-440 mouse pad and a Logitech M305.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium... how do I know if I am using 32 or 64 bit?
Ok don't know if this helps, but just working on a spreadsheet in Excel. This is a sheet I got emailed to me which was in previous version of Excel. I am running Office 2007. I opened it and saved as a 2007 version file.
I just tried to change a font from bold to regular in one cell. Would this seem that font is corrupted?
Original font was Arial 11 Bold. Turned off the Bold and got the strange small unreadable font that i am getting on web pages. When it is Arial 11 bold it is fine and readable. Soon as I take bold off it is wrong. I can turn bold on and off and repeat this in this cell.
Arial 10 (no bold is fine) but switching to Arial 11 no bold it is wierd. Arial 12 looks same as 11. Arail 14 does get larger but still same font.
Thanks for the information. To determine whether you have 32 or 64 bit, right click on My Computer and select Properties. It will be indicated under the System section as System Type and will say 32-bit Operating System or 64-bit Operating System.
For your video card, did you get the driver directly from ATI website or from Toshiba? You should get the driver from Toshiba since you have an integrated video and not from ATI.
In looking at the ATI and Toshiba websites and the version of driver you have, it seems to match the latest driver provided by Toshiba so in essence it looks like you have the correct one. ATI mentions the latest driver for the HD3xxx series is 10.7 whereas on Toshiba's website it does indeed say that the latest driver for Windows 7 32 bit is 8.634.1.
Interestingly enough, the version shown for 64 bit Windows 7 is 8.615.
If it turns out that you have 64 bit Windows then you probably have the wrong driver.
Please advise to confirm 32 or 64 bit and let us know for sure if you got your video driver from ATI or Toshiba.
Now if you click on the first AMD driver link you will find that it shows version 8.615 for 64 bit WIndows 7 only. But if you go back to the original link above (note that the browser back button does not work for some reason to take you back to the original page) and drill down to page 3 it shows another AMD display driver which is specified as version 8.634 and says 32 or 64 bit Windows 7!
I don't know which one is correct but I am suspicious you may not have the best drvier for your laptop.
I think you should contact Toshiba and ask them this question. Give them your exact laptop model, integrated graphics card model and be sure to tell them this is 64 bit Windows (not 32 bit).
If you click the Communicate link at the top of the page it takes you to the following:
I would seriously suggest calling them and confirming if you have the correct driver or not. Mention to them that their website is confusing because it mentions two different versions of drivers, one for 64 bit ony and the other for 32 and 64 bit and they are NOT the same version.
Also ask them if either of those two drviers could be used. If they say both can be used you might want to try the first one which says 64 bit only and see if it makes a difference. Just be sure to create a System restore point before updating your driver. Windows should do this automatically but I always have a habit of doing ot manually just to make sure.
If you do in fact have the wrong driver, this could well be causing your font issues.
Ok I figured it out. Not sure if this is the right way to do things, but it worked.
After seeing this strange font appear in Excel where it had not reared its ugly head before I got to thinking that the font itself must be screwed up.
So I went to Fonts folder in Windows and deleted the Arial font family. I restarted the computer and found a site offering free downloads of Windows TrueType fonts and installed that Arial font file.
Now everything looks normal. Not sure if this screwed anything else up yet, but so far so good.
Thank you so much to everyone who offered help and suggestions. I am grateful.

This goes along with what I had mentioned earlier in the thread and the mention of the above link. I assume that Arial is the main font that you use. Office does add fonts to the folder also and it seems that the font folder is quite sensitive. Glad you got it fixed and keep an eye on it.Thanks.

HI thibosjm,
Thanks so much for the update. I am very happy that you have this working and you can put this behind you now. I just saw your image of NIS earlier to help me visualize how messed up it was. So I can only imagine how nerve wracking it must have been for you!
Well I guess my 'delete the font' solution was only temporary.
I woke up this morning and got my computer out of sleep mode and noticed it had restarted due to some sort of update. No idea what at this point. But it restarted the computer.
AND of course my font issue is now back. Good times. I went to look in my fonts folder to do the same thing that worked before, however it doesn't show any Arial fonts in the folder (except for Arial Unicode which it won't let me do anything to).
So I guess I am back to square one. Any ideas?
Of course now I am wondering if it truly is a Norton issue...
