The Issue with Norton System Works is known and a Fix is due to come out shortly; N.SW. 2009 will be compatible with N.I.S. 2009.
With regard to the Safe Web: This is still in Beta, so, the only way to Remove it is Add/Remove. I would advise against installing it at-the-moment until it is outa Beta. ;)
Normally I’d agree with you on the Beta bit, but given that Norton 2009 offers users to install it first time they run their browser, most people will install it by default
I think you are getting mixed-up, as a few other Users as well: N.I.S. 2009 comes with Phishing Protection, which has nothing to do with the Safe Web; all the Safe Web does is provide Ratings on Web Links stating whether they are Safe to click on or not; P.P. Blocks Fake Web Sites and it is the P.P. prompt you probably got. Safe Web is not in the N.I.S. 2009 as it is still in Beta; the S.W. is a different Download at-the-moment.
