Forum tip - customising your profile badge

Would you like to add a colourful background to your avatar in the Norton Forums?

This background is called a profile badge. Here is how you set it up.

Log into your Norton account and go to My Settings.

Navigate to Social Connect, then to Badge Settings and make sure you have chosen Profile Badge.

First, choose the badge theme "tokyo madness". When you choose your background, this particular theme will allow the background to shine through very nicely. Then, in a second step, upload your background. Your background should be around 230 pixels wide and 150 pixels high (230 x 150 px). Make sure you have cropped/prepared your background image for this size before uploading it. Click on the grey "Browse" button to upload your background from your computer or picture gallery.

Once you have uploaded the image and inserted it, you will see a preview of what your background will look like in combination with your avatar.

Note: step 2 only applies to Norton Gurus, Norton Community staff and Symantec employees; the option to upload and apply your own images is currently not available for "non-badged" forum members. Without this option, you can only choose one of the four preloaded themes (tokyo madness, splat, moderntech or bayfog).

You can choose whether you want to have the number of your kudos, posts, solutions etc. displayed or hidden on your profile badge.

Finally, click on "Save" (otherwise your background will not be applied!), and navigate to a random post of yours to see if the background meets with your approval :-)

Tip: experiment with colours and patterns which will accentuate your avatar and font. Happy badge creating! :-D
