Frustrated trying to install Norton 360

I have been trying to install Norton 360, nothing shows up on the screen and I tried the manual. Still nothing came up on the screen I went on line ( yahoo & geol. ) for some help or advice, got no where fast. I've never done anything like this before. Sure could use some help, computer is sick, I gotta get that Norton installed. Somebody help please?! Thanks!!! :smileysad:

Can you please give us more details? What is the operating system (including service pack) running on your computer? Did/do you have any other security software (earlier version of Norton, or security software from another vendor) installed on your machine?

Is your computer currently infected by some virus/threat?

If so, you can try creating a Norton Bootable Recovery Tool to scan and remove the threats before your install your Norton program:

Otherwise, restart your computer to Safe Mode, and then try to install from Safe Mode. If you already have any other AntiVirus program installed, you need to remove/uninstall it before you start the installation.

hi yogesh! thanks, getting back to me :smileyhappy: i checked this out, secutity,sysmantic. before i can use this i need a key?, witch will be emailed to me otherwise i wont be able to  use this. if so how do i get this key?

Have you purchased the product or are you trying to install a trial, non-purchased version to clean your system? ("..... computer is sick,......")

 

The Bootable Recovery Tool is only usable with a purchased version of Norton as it needs the key to activate the scanning feature of the tool.

Yes I did purchase my product. I got a lil' lost, I realized I do have a key. Question, I should have no problems using this Bootable Recovery Tool?

There are lot of really good people on these forums.  I know- I started a different thread "Installing with a virus" when my daughter's computer was infected.  The more information you can tell them

- what behavior you computer is exibiting

- what you've done/ tried/ doesn't work

- relevant software on your machine (anti-virus, spyware) etc. 

 

The more that they can help.  Bookmark your thread and come back to it.  Stay patient!  Once your computer acts up, it may just take forever...

okay, now i am totally helpless. i uninstalled norton antivirus, to use this bootable recovery ( i did not install that ither, down right too Personal ). i can't Install this Norton; my Machine wont take ???, it does not open up on screen for me to do these things ( manual folder, download, put the key # in ). i don't understant why it doesn't register when i can take 1 that i have recorded, there's no proublem or w/a professinal disc. i duno, this is all too crazy how it'll accept 1 over thee other recoded or not. i tried to decribe the best i could. i gave u the details on this machine, it just wont take...why???  :smileymad:

What is the flavor of Windows you have? Is it Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7. Please specify the Service Pack also.

 

What is the version of Norton 360 that you try to install? Is it Norton 360 Version 4.0?

 

How did you get the setup file for Norton 360? Do you  have a CD or a downloaded copy?

 

What happens when you double click the setup file? Do you receive any error message?

 

Go to Add or Remove programs (It will be programs and Features if you have a different version of Windows), check whether you have any other Norton product installed. Also check whether you have any other security products installed?
