Full Download Link to latest release

I see various posts to a download link for the full product.  As far as I can tell, all of them are to old releases.

 

A full download is desireable for installatiuon to multiple PCs or to PCs on a slow internet connection.  The download manager is too slow under these circumstances as it requires a ful;l download for each PC and that it be run on the target PC which might not be on the best connectiopn for a fast download.

 

A few years ago, one could download the latest release as well as the latest signatures from simple links that were always maintained with the latest and greatest by simply going to www.norton.com/nis13 (or whatever the latest year was).  It seems this has been abandoned in favour of complicated links to a specific release version that is soon out of date. This in turn makes a huge update download a requirement after installation.

 

Any hope of a return to the good old days?

The downloads that I have dealt with lately are all the most current version 20.3.1.22., unless of course if I am purposely using an older version on say a revert to 2012. 

 

I do believe you are referring to 20.4.0.40.  This version will not be placed on any download from Norton until such time as it is totally released to every one.  You can obtain a full release copy via PMing Tony Weiss.  Once this version 20.4.0.40 is released worldwide it will also appear as the latest download via the http://norton.com/latestnis format.

Those installation versions that say "NO DEFS" require big downloads to update, too, even for the latest versions.

The download for the "DEF" updates are from the date the latest version was placed on the server.  When using the download from a CD/older version (perhpas saved on your system) not only the DEF updates, ut also the version updates and patches if any must also be downloaded - so in the long run, you may consider the "NO DEFS" require big downlaods - but not near as big as using an older version download.


Also if you think about it, even if they placed a new download on the server everyday - it would need DEF update shortly after it was placed there.
