I have Norton 360 20.2.0.19 downloaded from Comcast. The previous version worked fine. This one will not run the Full System Scan or the Backup automatically during idle time on either my desktop or laptop.
The Quick Scan is reported as having run during idle time as do Automatic LiveUpdate and Insight Optimizer so I believe the software is detecting idle time.
I have the latest Windows 7 updates as well as display adapter driver.
Again, everything worked on both machines until I upgraded to 20.2.0.19. Is this operator error or a bug?
Hi mjohnsonn,
Have you tried running LiveUpdate manually in your computer? If not, please do so until you get the message "LiveUpdate finished - No updates found". Keep us posted if the issue persists.
Will do. I'll give the system a week or so and see if it runs the scans during idle time. Thanks.
Hi mjohnsonn.
If the problem continues with the backup you might like to try setting it to run on the "weekly" setting and see what happens.
I find that it does not always run as soon as I would expect under idle time, almost as if it is considering whether there is enough to make it worth while running.. ;-)
Well I don't think I should actually wait a week to see if things are working. I used to be able to leave my machine for a few hours and come back to find my documents had been backed up. The status overlays for the files would all turn green from blue. That doesn't happen now.
The idle time backup doesn't happen on my Windows 7 64-bit desktop.
The idle time backup doesn't happen on my rather old 32-bit Windows 7 laptop
The idle time backup doesn't happen on my really old XP SP3 laptop. This machine has almost nothing else on it. It's just used to access a couple of web sites.
This is not good at all. I'm not doing anything different. I'm guessing a whole lot of people are thinking that their data is backed up and it isn't.
Again, Norton is detecting idle time on all the machines. They run the Quick Scan and the perform the Auto Live Update. Somehting is very very wrong here.
Backup runs if I schedule it, but only if the idle time box is not checked. I need it to run durning idle time. I'd like it to run that way because I frequently render video with Sony Vegas which takes hours. I never know when my machine will be tied up for five or six hours and I need to have Vegas on the Silent Mode list.
Will the scheduled Backup run reliably the moment I close Vegas and the scheduled backup time has passed?
Since the idle time scans and backup don't work on three different machines with three different OS's, it's pretty obvious that there's a problem here.
Problems solved with new version available via Comcast. Version 20.3.1.22 works great. Thanks Symantec!
