Full scan not available - only Limited scan available version 22.24

I haven’t been able to run a “full scan” in many days. My laptop settings are set correctly, with Microsoft Defender’s periodic scanning feature shut off. Full scans are imperative. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, have you been able to identify the issue and resolve it? I’ve spent hours trying to and it’s been futile. Thanks so much.

If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:

@Kimba_Essence Are you using the latest version 26.4.10932 (build 26.4.10932.0) of Norton? And are you logging into the laptop with admin credentials? TIA.

Hi you old friend, always a pleasure to find you here and have you respond to me, so grateful for you. I hope life has been good to you. I reverted back to that original that we all reverted to before their more updated versions come out, because the newer versions were frying my laptop. Vs. 22.24.8, with intelligent updater to update daily/every other day. Anything after that was literally hogging down my laptop so badly. 22.24 is still working great, but a of about a week ago, I get that message when I try to fun a full system scam.

Thoughts? And thanks Soul, again, always appreciate you and always a big smile when I find you here.

Kimberly

Thanks for the kind words, its always a pleasure to help everyone. Please refresh me, what is your version of Windows and does the account you log into the laptop have admin permissions?

-Have there been any notices that anything spooky has been detected?
-Any new software installed?
-Does a hard reboot usher any change?
-Maybe getting a fresh definitions set from intelligent updater and a reboot?

  • No

  • Do it daily w/reboot after new definitions are installed. Afraid to call Norton because they don’t want us using the older version.

Maybe share a screenshot of what you are seeing for review? Is that possible?

These are some steps that MAY help with that specific version and the issue with scans: Try the Norton Autofix as a first step to see if that changes things. Also check Windows Services for Symantec Framework Service being present and running.

Steps to Fix Scan Issues:

  • Restart Computer: Resolves failed updates or temporary conflicts.
  • Run Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool: Download the tool to remove and re-install Norton, which fixes most installation issues. If you have Norton Family, uninstall it first.
  • Norton Autofix: Open the main interface, go to Help > Get Support to run automatic diagnostics.
  • Run Specific Scans: Open Scans > Settings and try running a Startup Scan first if the Full Scan is failing.
  • Repair Installation: Use the Windows Control Panel to repair the Norton 360 application.
  • Check Services: Ensure “Symantec Framework Service” is running in services.msc
