full scan problem ... is it NIS 2012 or something on new samsung chronos laptop

The new Samsung Chronos 7 seems to have an interesting problem.  Win 7 Pro 64 bit Intel i7 8gb ram on intel 320 120gb ssd.

First problems noted were from a full scan in normal mode ( 19.2.0.10 NIS 2012 ).  Warnings were picked up about Heuristic Virus in mostly msi files.  I ( wrongly probably ) allowed NIS 2012 to delete all of these files instead of quarantining them.  A subsequent safe mode full scan picked up warnings about a few more files ( against mostly or perhaps all .msi files ).  For example a warning looked like this:

Unresolved Threats:

Risks in compressed file "e55b.msi"

 Type: Compressed

Risk: High (High Stealth, High Removal, High Performance, High Privacy)

 Categories: Heuristic Virus

 Status: Not Attempted

 -----------

 2 Files

[c:\windows\installer\e55b.msi] - Not Attempted

I had ( and still have ) a full system image from before the deletions and restored my system back to that point … I wanted all of the .msi files ( and a few .exe files ) that had been deleted.

After the system recovery I am now running the lastest NIS 2012 version aka ( just released 19.5.0.145 ) version.  Quick scans work fine.  Full scans will hang at some point … often on one of the .msi files that 19.2.0.10 had some issues on.  I cannot even cancel the full scan successfully … ( it tries but keeps running ) … so restart.

Full scans in safe mode or full scans in safe mode with networking enabled will proceed and give results that everything is clean.

So how would one proceed to try to debug why a normal mode full scan does not complete but a safe mode scan does work ( and pretty quickly … it is a fast machine )?

At the moment I just turned off all full scans ( will do them in safe mode periodically ) and also installed malware antibytes … ( mbam also gives clean results on a full scan ).

This certainly may be something peculiar with this new Samsung laptop … or maybe something with NIS 2012?

Help me out gang … any and all ideas appreciated!
