Full Screen Detection stopped working.... :|

On both my PC and Steambox (actually a HTPC), movies are no longer watchable and games no longer playable because NIS keeps deciding the systems are idle so it will do a quick scan now.  Very annoying, particularly on the Steambox because I don't have a keyboard and mouse plugged into it most of the time (I use it like a games console) and telling Norton to go away takes some considerable effort.

I contacted Live Chat who told me to disable the firewall (uh) before admitting that they weren't actually acquainted with the 'Full Screen Detection' setting.  So I had to explain it to them and they went a bit quiet.  It kind of felt like the equivalent of taking my car in for repair and having to explain to the mechanic what a piston is.  Why aren't Norton staff familiar with their own product?

I realise Silent Mode can be enabled, but having to do that in itself every time is a nuisance, and adding "User-Specified Programs" to an exception list is out of the question because I'm buying games on Steam all the time. It's unreasonable to expect me to add to that list almost daily and should be unneccesary due to the (faulty) Full Screen Detection facility.

Will this be fixed?  Or should I be considering ending my subscription and switching to the six license McAfee suite provided free by my new ISP?

leeguv, if you use Silent Mode, it can be enabled for several time options up to one day, which should stop Norton from performing background tasks, and suppresses all alerts and suspends backgound activities. This should enable you to watch movies, without interruption. Hope that helps.

Silent Mode is not a solution.  One of the two computers affected is a Steambox.  Ie. A HTPC which sits beneath my living room TV and boots into Steam Big Picture Mode.  Its primary input is a wireless X-Box 360 Controller not a keyboard and mouse.

Having to put Norton into Silent Mode for x hours every time I want to watch a movie or play a game on my living room TV is not acceptable.  It's too disruptive.
