Full System Scan Hangs

When I manually run a full system scan the scan hangs when above 2,600,00 files always a different file. Computer is unresponsive I have to restart the system. I have now spent 8 hours on 3 different occasions with Chat Support. The techs run power erasure and assure me that the issue has been resolved. Which it hasn't, I am at my wits end. I see others have posted the same issue and there doesn't appear to be any help. Norton needs to step up or they will loose my business and I will give a negative referral to anyone who will listen.
