Hi, everyone. I have had different issues with my computer and Norton in the past few days, so I was curious as to what you guys had to say. First off, I'm running Norton Internet Security 2011 on my computer (that's all I have for virus protection) and use Windows Vista Home Premium as my operating system.
After having a problem with IE 9 this past Tuesday after downloading it, I uninstalled it and returned to IE 8. I ran a full system scan on my computer after that, just to be sure everything was okay. (I was concerned because when I went to go into the Norton chatroom for help, the file I needed to download was caught first by IE and then by Norton saying it was a medium threat!) Anyway, when I run a full system scan, I have Norton set up to never skip a single file, so usually when a full scan is complete, I have close to 390,000. I had over 402,000+ that day. I ran another scan today, Thursday, only to be faced with another 1,000 files that have magically appeared out of nowhere.
My question is this: Has Norton changed what is being scanned? I noticed while the scan was running that my favorites (which I have a lot of) were being checked, which normally aren't. I also know I haven't added anything new to the computer; no new documents, pictures, files, etc, other than Windows updates that never seem to change the file count number when scanning. I don't know if I should I be concerned about what Norton is doing, or has anyone else encountered a similar problem? Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks, Gina
