Never bothered to look at the files being scanned before. Started yesterday after Downloader.MisleadApp was removed by NIS 2008.
The Scan starts with an *, then the windows and system32 folders, then some symantec folder, some HKEY and then it lists virus names, adware, spyware and a few such as W32.Sality.U it scans for about 20-30 seconds and then it continues with the regular PC folders.
Are these Symantec Signatures that are being scanned or do I have all these on my PC?
The Scan is just looking for Internet Threats stated and you do not have Internet Threats on your computer.
What you see is Norton scanning for common threats to eliminate those already at start, then continues with all the other sections to be scanned - specific folders and such depending on the type of scan. If it’s present in your PC, you’ll see that in the scan results (detected, resolved, require attention, etc.). Threats classified as severe and above are removed/resolved automatically while things classified as low-risk like Hacktools and Adware for example are asked for action, unless your settings say otherwise.
