Is there a way for Norton to create a progress bar while running Full System Scan ??? I would like to know when how much time I have to return to the computer and run a restore point when it finishes. Thank you.
Was your PC on idle?
What do you mean by idle? No applications were launched. I was just watching my decktop and when 0600 rolled around nothing happened.
I just checked my Windows scheduled task and the NIS entry says “Could not start”. I clicked on the Properites and noticed it still shows my prior version before the update, ie, Norton Internet Security\Engine\16.2.0.7\navw32.exe/L. Just wondering if this may be causing the problem?
Hi Aviator327,
From the information you provided, the scheduled scan is pointing to the previous engine which no longer exists.
Delete all of your scheduled scans and then recreate them. They should now point to the 16.5 engine.

Thanks for the reply. Just read another post about what to do from another forum member about re-creating the scan and will give it a try.
That did the trick. Re-created a new scan and it now works. Thanks again.
Hi charter,
A full system scan takes place at the first computer restart following the product installation.
Also, the full scan is run every 30 days at idle time and it can be resumed. The product tries to finish the full scan within one day after the due time (it still runs only in idle). If the product is unable to complete the full scan because there is no idle time, it will be dropped from the current schedule and the product will run a Full Scan at its next schedule.
Hope that answers your question.
Hi, Blu452. When NIS v 21 was introduced there were several changes aimed at improving the performance of the product.
That's probably why you're seeing faster scans.
As long as all else is working ok, don't be concerned .
Hi F4E.
Thank you for answering. Won't worry about it anymore.
Have a nice day.
You also have to account for hardware advances since you bought your XP machine. The drives and CPU(s) are probably multiples of times faster on the new machine.
peterweb, thank you for your comment. Makes sense that my XP cannot be compared to the new computers and its latest hardware.
I appreciate you, F4E, and everyone else who volunteer on this forum helping people such as me.
I have asked this thread be moved to the product suggestions board.
A general suggestion we make is to set up your full system scan to run when you are not going to need the computer, such as overnight. You could then create your restore point first thing in the morning.
This would be very helpful in time management. Thanks again. My time is limited.
This Norton KB article should help. https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v1910850_ns_retail_en_us
