Hi -
Every time I have to do a Full System Scan in NIS 2010, I cringe.
For example, on one of my systems running XP/SP3 and the HDD having 1.3 million files on it and a 85% trust level via Insight, the FSS takes about 4+ hours. How can this be? Perhaps the scanning algorithms need to be rewritten. IMHO, this is the only real downside to the product. I can't even work on the system with the FSS running in the background.
My hardware is nice, only 1+ year old. In all fairness, NIS 2009 was a bit faster, but still in the realm of slow.
Note the Insight Trust Level, as above. I thought that this technique was supposed to *speed* the scan process.
Results on a Vista system are comparable. The NTFS (file system) has been defragmented prior to the scan.
Is it just my imagination? Perhaps I need another Krabby Patty.
