Issue abstract: Norton for Mac upgraded to version 24.9.2; Live Update scheduling function removed
Detailed description: Following my Nortons for Mac application upgrade I discovered that the functionality to schedule Live Update virus definitions has been removed. The only way to use “Live” Update is if you, the customer, manually trigger the virus definition update. Previously, I could schedule these definition updates to occur after hours or at regular intervals (hourly, daily, weekly, etc.) The new version maintained the scheduling function for Scans, but not for Virus Definition Updates. I spent over an hour on the phone with Customer Support today and they have verified the issue and tagged it for the developers to begin investigating. But for now, “Live” Update should be titled “Manual” Update.
If anyone has discovered a work-a-round for this, please feel free to respond. I have looked throughout the new user interface and I haven’t found this yet, but obviously “I don’t know what I don’t know”! Any guidance or direction would be appreciated.
Product & version number: Nortons for Mac version 24.9.2
OS details: Sequoia 15.1
What is the error message you are seeing? Functionality for Live Update Removed; no error message. Apparently it is “working as designed” for solely manual customer-initiated virus definition updates only.
