Hi,
I noticed a number of posts stating that the USB drive was missing and I suspoected a missing driver on the Custom Recovery Disc.
I now have re-run the process over 20 times and notice that the recovery disk finds the USB drive sometimes and not others. This would indicate that there is a timing issue with the initial discovery.
Anyone got the same symptons or is it only me or my setup. (Maxtor USB drive!)
Regards

Greetings,
By default the recovery CD supports USB drives. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you get your drive to show up in the recovery CD.
1- Verify that the power is on for this USB drive
2- Verify that the USB drive is plugged in to an USB port that is integrated into the motherboard before starting your computer
3 - Verify that in Windows (on the same machine) you do not have the following drive letters assigned to the USB drive: A,B,C,X,Z
4 - In the BIOS make sure "support legacy USB is disabled.
If the above steps still do not get your drive to show up in the recovery CD then you will need to open a command prompt, and assign your USB drive a drive letter with Microsoft's diskpart utility. You can open a command prompt by clicking near the N in Norton Ghost on the main screen. Instructions on how to use diskpart can be found here:

Many times, the problem is a result of Norton Ghost 14 not recognizing the drive because no alias assigned to the drive. Other times the driver for the USB drive might not be included on the standard recovery disk, and you will need to create a custom recovery disk to be able to access the drive. I would try both suggestions, and let us know how they work for you. Thanks!
