Genie “scanning” web sites when no browsing ongoing

Hello @Kaw57,

Welcome to the Norton community of mutual assistance and exchange between users !

To complement the feedback from @xjoex and @peterweb, I think it’s worth remembering that Norton Genie can be integrated into Norton 360 via the new “Genie Scam Protection” and “Genie Scam Protection Pro” features (limited to the US and certain English-speaking areas) or independently with dedicated “Genie Scam Detector” apps available on the App Store and Google Play (or via Genie Online).

The previous feedback mentioned the individual statistics provided by Norton Genie Scam Protection with “Safe Web and Safe SMS,” and with Norton Genie Scam Protection Pro, there would also be detection indicators corresponding to “Safe Email” and “Safe Call.”

For my part, I am in an area not (yet) eligible for AI-powered scam detection integrated into Norton 360. I am therefore still limited to the “Genie Scam Detector” Android app. When I launch this app, I also get the message “I’ve flagged 796,684 scams so far. I’m getting better at this every day!” And I think that’s the case for you too.

This figure doesn’t correspond to the number of websites analyzed, but rather to the number of scams detected, which is completely different. This figure obviously doesn’t correspond to the detections on your accounts or devices, but to the entire Norton Genie Scam Detector user community since the app’s launch.

I think that’s where the difference lies.

But I agree, Norton marketing certainly still has some pedagogical work to do on the subject and on the very distinct communication of these three versions of the Norton Genie tool.

@Gayathri_R : A little feedback on this point to the team concerned would certainly be wise. No ?

Have a good weekend and a good day.

Sincerely,

Guillaume
