Geoblocking problems for international traveller

I travel internationally. Recently, my Norton 360 for 3 devices subscription came due. The license was originally purchased in the U.S., but I'm traveling through Asia. I followed the links Norton gave for renewal, but it took me to a site for Asia. I tried to purchase the renewal subscription with a US-issued Amex card, and it wouldn't allow me. I then tried to buy the same product in the Asian market, with an Asian issued credit card. There were hiccups with that as well. In the process of talking with customer service I found out that if I returned to the US and tried to deactivate one of the three devices and activate another one in its place, that the activation of the new device would be blocked! So, Norton's geo-blocking policy kept me from renewing my subscription with the US-issued license, and also keeps me from switching out devices  when back in the US with an Asian-issued license! This is nonsense! At least, Norton should give US customers the option to renew their subscriptions when they travel abroad! If anyone has a solution to this dilemma, please let me know. Will VPNs work to get around geo-blocking of Norton? Currently, I'm switching to a cheaper security product from a competitor as as stop-gap measure; but I would have preferred to continue using Norton 360.
