ethernet Configure Proxy says “Manually”. None of “Select a protocol to configure” are checked.
I also use Entourage as my e-mail client…could that be causing an issue?
Ryan, I am going to uninstall 11.0 and download it again…can’t hurt.
Ryan, seems third time was the charm. Very interesting...the first two times uninstalled and downloaded NAV for MAC 11.0 it did not have a pop up that asked if I wanted Java to allow access and download.....the third time it did! And that seemed to be the trick. Somehow, Java was blocking LiveUpdates attempts to access the internet......
It sure looks like it is working now.....I don't get the error message any longer and it looks like it checking for updates the way it used to before it stopped working.
I appreciate your help!!!!
Ryan, I'm having a similar? problem with Live Update: it runs but hangs/freezes and I have to Force Quit. The On-line chat people have not been to do anythng.
I've looked at some of the things you suggested in this forum, but no luck. Can you help?
Alan
I have now uninstalled/reinstalled NAV 11 3 or 4 times (uninstalled using the Terminal script I received from a Norton tech) and I still have the problem. LiveUpdate will not complete the download/installation of any updates.
Please help me. If this is related to Java, as noted by 1 other correspondent, how do I find the Java component to get this fixed?
Alan
Hi AHUllman,
What OS are you using? When you install NAV 11, are you selecting to update your product at the end of the installation process? If so can you try NOT doing this and then trying again?
Can you post information from your Console log and also your liveupdt.log here? When you run LiveUpdate and see the problems occur, go into the Console application in Applications -> Utilities and select the Logs button in the toolbar if you're running OS 10.4 or the Show Log List button if you're running OS 10.5 or higher. Then select console.log or All messages. Copy the last page or so of information in this list and post it on here.
For the liveupdt.log, select Open... from the file menu in the Console application and navigate to your boot hard drive, then Library, Application Support, Symantec, LiveUpdate and then select liveupdt.log. Copy the last few pages of information from this and paste it back here.
Thanks,
Elliott
Elliott,
The log files are too long to post, even separately. Is there a way to send as an attachment or email to you privately?
Alan
OS X 10.5.7
Elliott,
I did another Uninstall, followed by a Reinstall. This time I did not allow the installer to do any updating. After the restart, I used LiveMeeting to update everything and that worked. Next week, when there will likely be something to update, we'll see if the problem has been solved.
Stay tuned.
Alan
Elliott,
The most recent reinstallation, as described in my previous message, did NOT do the trick. Today LiveUpdate did its automatic launch to look for updates and it is hung up/frozen. The messagage says:
Update for:
Recieved: 0 bytes of 16.7 MB
File:
Action: Processing…
This launched several hours ago and is still stuck.
H E L P!
Alan
Hi AHUllman,
Can you check your personal messages on this forum? I sent you my email address. If you send me your email address I can send you a test version of LiveUpdate to try.
Thanks,
Elliott
