Does anyone have information on Ghost 10.0 being updated to have a different recovery process. I suspect this is a Live Update recent change to the software.
Previously, the Recovery my Computer function worked as follows: use the windows GUI to select a recovery point and select recover. initially, the process starts and then tell the user the operation can not run in windows. after two questions on desire to continue and "OK" and "yes", the system shuts down and start the recovery process. the grey screen that appears shows 010111000 going across the screen with a percent progress meter.
now the system goes into another GUI wizard after restart. When answering the same questions twice and selecting the recovery point desired, the system will not recover.
Temporary work around: I used windows XP System Restore to go back a few days. Then used Ghost to recover computer.
Did this two days ago and today had a lockup that I want to go back a few days and Ghost did the same thing...had new GUI after the restart and would not recover. Used the temporary work around and then recovered as stated above.
Does anyone know if Live Update has caused this change. I have turned Live Update to Interactive in control panel and hope it will not update. any feedback on the issue is appreciated including indications from Symantec Corp. that Live Update truly did change the Recovery process and this is a Known Issue and they are investigating it.
Thanks,
Gee
Hi Tony,
I am using WinXP Pro, SP3. I am not using a dual boot, but do have a RAID 1 (mirror) on Dell XPS 410, 320 GIG SATA's. The recovery worked fine for the past year...believe me, had to use several time due to non responsive system. when complete, the system is back up and speedy.
like I said, the MS Restore utility takes it back to a point where Ghost operates fine. left alone for a few days with auto updates and it behaves as posted. It is like it is not initiating the process and runs me through the graphic wizard...but in VGA mode after an restart following the questions and responding with OK and Yes.

While it may have worked for you, both the Windows XP pro sp3 and the RAID1 are not supported for Norton Ghost 10. Do you know which MS updates are being installed after you revert your system? Maybe we can pinpoint the change to your system that might be causing the problems. Thanks!
Tony,
My Norton Ghost 10 book says it supports dynamic disks (or in my case, RAID level 1 or mirroring). I checked with tech support prior to install on the system and they confirmed that RAID 1 is supported, but RAID 0 (Striping) is not.
I am using XP Pro, SP3. Not sure what MS updates were installed when the problem occurred. Since I was able to Ghost back, they are gone...maybe now reapplied. I can tell you Ghost 10 worked fine after initial install of SP3...no problems.
I will do more testing and if I find something worth reporting, will post it.

There have been no recent updates to Norton Ghost 10. Which operating system are you using? If you are using Windows Vista or a dual boot system, these are not supported with Norton Ghost 10. Any additional information you can provide about your system or the backup job you created with Norton Ghost 10 is appreciated. Thanks!
