I just freshly reloaded Ghost 10.0 which I had removed some time ago due to slow system response using incremental backup. I planned to just image my C: drive onto and identical internal drive. I run Windows XP Pro.
I reregistered the product then attempted to do the Ghost Basic backup (drive image copy) by selecting "backup" but then there was a long, long wait and then the following error message appeared: "Couldn't contact Ghost Start Agent (0x80080005), and then the backup Wizard window opened. I selected "Backup a disk or partition," "Next,." And a window appeared showing both C: and the backup drive F: with C: selected (highlighted) under "copy from." and the "file" box (rather than the CD box) selected for "copy to."
However, on the "create a backup image" window that appears next no matter what I chose for the "image file name" field I get an error message, "you cannot save the backup image file to the hard disk or partition that is being backed up." There is a browse button and I tried selecting F: drive that way and the same message appears. Below the image file name field is another field labeled "image description" with the following contents:
Backup image of Disk 1 with partition (C:)
Backup taken on 6/23/2011
I have only one partition in C: yet it appears to be trying to write to C:. I am wondering if perhaps there is something wrong with the registration but I wouldn't know how to fix it if it is.
It seems pretty basic but I seem to be something wrong. Can anyone identify the problem?
