I have had Ghost 10.0 for a couple years and all has gone well until today I decided to update with Liveupdate from within the Ghost program. After a blue screen and an inability to restart my computer in any mode, I let it sit for 1/2 an hour. Then Windows started normally, but a small Windows dialog box labeled Symantec User Session came up with the message, "A necessary file could not be loaded. NisProd 1002.1 with an OK box to click on. Next came a black DOS box titled "C:\Windows Installer MS165.tmp" and saying "Norton Ghost service is stopping... The service could not be controlled in the present state. More information at [and then the screen disappeared before I could read it]." The DOS box kept coming back momentarily and intermittently all the while the computer was on, but it never stayed long enough to read anything. I do not have NIS; I did have it some years ago, but it has been uninstalled; I have ZoneAlarm Security Suite. My OPS is Windows XP, SP 3. I have my installation CD, so I can uninstall/reinstall if that's the best course to take. But then, how do I update? Or don't I?
I will very much appreciate some help.
