I've read through the previous posts on this and tried all of the fixes including the ones that are suggested when you have the Configure Options set to INTERACTIVE/ENHANCED. The suggestions at the Symantec link don't work, (including ripping out with the Norton Removal Tool and re-installing).
In one of the threads, however, someone metioned looking in the Event Viewer which is what I did and I get a 1603 error:
I turned on Windows Installer Logging in Windows XP per: http:\\support.microsoft.com\kb\314852\ and ran liveupdate again and Event Viewer had this message.
Product: Norton Ghost 10.0 - Update '{577A9403-87DD-4A8B-8D1B-3ABBE489DE4C}' could not be installed. Error code 1603. Additional information is available in the log file c:\DOCUMEN~1\Peter\LOCALS~1\Temp\MSI42f1c.LOG.
So I now have a log file that I can send to someone in tech support. I'd appreciate any help I can get on this. Let me know where I should send the file.
