I have WinXP Media Center with sp3. Six months ago I created a recovery point set for drive C. The size of a backup file was similar to the used space on that drive (standard compression selected) - 100 gigs. The name of thhat single file was C_Drive001.v2i.
Then about a month ago, I wanted to backup the same drive again. Based on the explanation for recovery point sets, I thought that only incremental changes would be backed up. I duly selected the previously created recovery point and let it go. Ghost created a backup file that was again about 100 gigs (incremental changes?) with the name C_Drive002.v2i. Does that make sense? Not to me. The only incremental change I had were maybe a few spreadsheets and emails.
Another issue is with the Optimize Recovery Point Storage. Whether I choose an option to be warned, or let Ghost automatically optimize storage space, it does neither. It writes the file until it runs out of disk space, then reports an error, and erases the file it was creating.
