I'm trying to install a solid state disk (SSD) on my Win XP system. I have already created
1. a Ghost V10 image file (extension: V2I) from the current hard disk, which is also a SATA drive running on a Promise SATA/ATA controller on my Asus motherboard.
2. a partition on the SSD, offset ('aligned') at 512 KBytes. XP requires this alignment for the SSD controller to function.
Question: if i boot into XP and retore the Ghost image file, will it delete and move the SSD partition, or leave it as-is when it restores the files? (I do not want it touch the partition that I created.)
Do I also have to do the following separately, or will the image restore do it:
a. Mark the partition 'active.'
b. Create a MBR either before or after the image restore.
