Ghost 12.0 hanging at 0% and 5% when doing backups

I have had this issue with Ghost 12.0 for awhile now, even somewhat before I installed XP service pack 3. However, it does it EVERY time now, and I can no longer create backups. On a “copy my harddrive” backup, it will go through the motions, initilaize, then hang at 0% for hours just saying “Copying Drive”. When I do other backups for My Computer, and other folders, it will again inialize and start, but then at 5% complete indefinately. I have tried uninstalling Ghost, using the Norton Removal Tool, and reinstalling. This works…for the first time…after that, Ghost will do the same thing to me. I also have tried the “fix” where I delete the register file from the “File Backups” folder…this worked twice…but no longer helps anymore. I used LiveUpdate and have the most up-to-date version of Ghost 12, and it STILL does not work. Is there a solution somewhere here in the Community that I missed…or can someone please tell me that Symantec has maybe FINALLY come out with a patch for this problem, and direct me to it???  Thank you all for taking the time to read this!
