Is there someone who can comment on this problem please.  What could be more basic than attempting to restore the Windows XP C: drive from a second hard disk on the same computer?  Why am I getting this ED800012 error?

Since you have Ghost 12, have you run LiveUpdate till there are no more updates?  What's the full version information for Ghost?

Thanks for replying, Erik.

I don't know the full version info for the original install.  That's because I cannot restore it.  I did the original cold install of this PC from Windows XP Pro CDs about 4 months ago on 4/20/2008.  I installed Ghost 12, and definitely ran LiveUpdate  at that time.

I still have all the full and incremental ghost image files from that 4 month period, and can use Ghost Explorer to see all files that were on the C drive.  But I cannot do a complete restore of the drive.

I need my PC, so I've since done another cold install of EVERYTHING, current Ghost version is 12.0.4.26321, but of course this is meaningless with respect to the reported problem.

As stated in the original report, XP is installed on the first of 3 partitions on the first physical disk, and this is the only partition I am backing up with Ghost.  Vista is installed in the 3rd partition, this includes its dual boot manager.  On a day to day basis I only use XP.  The Ghost image files are on a second physical disk.  Is there any chance the Vista install is somehow upsetting Ghost?

Unsure.  Tony or myself will PM you.
