I am running Windows XP SP2.
I just upgraded from Norton 360 version 1 to version 2 and now Norton Ghost no longer works.
I removed the Ghost 12 and reinstalled and it still does not run/startup. Even the desktop link is invalid (target "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\NMain.exe" /dat:C:\Program Files\Norton Ghost\nswigho.nsi) does not seem to exist.
I tried searching the forums for a solution but did not find relavent topics. Can anyone asist.
Thanks - Wayne.
When you reinstall is the desktop link no longer valid? I'd need to double check, but I don't believe Ghost 12 used NMain. Are you sure the version and that it's not Ghost 10 or Norton Save & Restore 1.0?
Ghost and Norton 360 are compatible.
Update..... Problem solved
The problem was with Microsoft's .Net Framework 3.0, which either got installed incorrectly or is not compatible with Ghost 12.
The intial problem with the install cleared up after uninstalling and reinstalling a few times. However whenever I launched Ghost 12, I received the following error "VProConsole.exe - System.Security.SecurityException".
I tried unistalling and reinstalling .Net 3.0 but I was getting errors. A Google search indicated that I was not the only one having problems installing it.
I then installed .Net 3.5 successfully and now all is well.
At present, I don't really know if the act of installing Norton 360 Version 2 installed .Net 3.0 or my automatic updates featured installed it sometime after I last ran Ghost 12 successfully and before I updated Norton 360 to Version 2.0.
360V2 contains its own backup program, so it is incompatable with ghost12, as I recall.
