Hello,
I am trying to recover my files from a hard drive crash with my new computer running Windows XP Pro SP2. The old machine was Windows XP Pro with SP2. Using Norton Ghost 14.0.
I have 2 recovery destination with 3 recovery sets per destination.
C:\ & D:\
I used a USB hard drive for my recovery destination.
For C:\, the destination was -> F:\Norton Backups
For D:\, the destination was -> F:\Norton Backups-D_drive
I am able to recover C:\ using the following steps; however I am unable to recover D:\ using the same method. Here are the steps, and the resulting error messages.
Please help.
--------------------------------------------
For D:\, the destination was -> F:\Norton Backups-D_drive
started: "Recover my files"
Tried "Import Backup Destination"
received message:
-Info 6C8F1C25: Cannot import items.
--The file import failed.
---No files matched the backup criteria.
Selected "Recovery Point". Selected "Change".
Changed "View by" to "File name". Selected "Browse".
Selected filename: "LEE_Local Disk0-2_Drive040_s06.v2i"
File is located in E:\Norton Backups-D_drive\LEE_Local
Disk0-2_Drive040_s06.v2i
Selected "Explore...."
received message:
"cannot mount the selected recovery points"
Notes:
Drive letter was assigned.
I tried to use explorer to browse drive letter, but mount is not accessible.
Explorer asks me if I want to format the drive.
The drive letter is not unmounted upon exiting the program. I have to reboot to free the mount.
Same errors occur for each recovery point set.
Remember: The same process shown here worked for C:. Only D:\ is failing.

Thanks, J.J.
