Hi,
I'm the victim of the
"Error E1AD3212: You do not have sufficient privileges to perform this operation. See help for more information about security settings."
I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition SP3. I installed while logged in as me - both user and administrator permissions. The product comes up fine but I can't finish setting it up because I don't have permissions.
Thanks for your help!
Melinda
Hi MFCagle,
I would suggest you to login with the Administrator account in XP and then complete the Norton Ghost configuration. If thebuilt-in Administrator account is not visible in the user account list on logon page, refer to the following weblink to enable it:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/admins.htm
--Vinod
It doesn't relate to login with "Administrator". It won't work.
I've checked with others that such problem was well known in Ghost 14, and unluckily it does not have any known pattern and arise in quite random manner.
You'd better file a formal support request to Customer Support... although they seems not have any way to tackle the issue for you...
I'd logged also a support for more than a week but yet NO REPLY til now. It's about time for me to proceed for a refund request.
Good luck.

Yes, I found the administrator login doesn't work. I get the same ole error.
I tried to uninstall the software using the Windows uninstall and re-install as administrator. But that just never seemed to complete after an extended period. When I tried to re-install the software, it said a newer version was on the disk and had to be removed first. (I had run live update initially thinking the E1AD3212 error would be patched. Silly me!)
Next I proceeded to delete anything in the registry with "Norton Ghost." This too failed since there is something incripted that says what was the last version installed. I can't find it.
I don't want to use Norton software removal tool since I'm happy with my firewall, parental controls, and antivirus settings.
Any suggestions? My fiance is tired of me spending my evenings on the computer "fixing" things. ;-)
Melinda
Try running fixinstall.bat in the Norton Ghost folder.
