i'm looking for a solution for my existing PC to eliminate the use of two mirror drives and replace them with one SSD drive. dont know why i ever did a mirror setup as i have a NAS unit that i keep all my key files on.
so my problem is that i dont want to do a complete re install of the operating system (win 7) and all of my existing software as everything is up and running w/o any problem
can ghost 14.0 solve this problem for me or is there another option that will enable me to go to just one drive
p.s. i'm considering an Intel 520 SSD drive which claims to have some sort of software include to install my setup to their drive
tks, i'll install ghost on this puter, and than order the ssd drive and give it a try
i had no problems doing what you said with a single drive, but when i when to a mirror setup with win 7 and tried to do an Image-Restore to the Raid Drives it would fail and i had to install all the software from scratch
hopefully going from two mirror drives to just one wont have the same problem
Because it is Not necessary, when you backup computer it will backup all your aps and data. Most of us never tick that box because it tends to complicate matters.
All you need is "Define New" and "Backup My Computer" nothing else, that will then create all the necessary .v2i files required.

Prob #1 I just tried to install Ghost 14.0 on my win 7 machine, had always been using it with Vista and never installed it as win 7 came with backup sofware and with my mirror drives and NAS unit for files i didnt need it
now when i tried to install it say's it not compatable with win 7. are upgrades avail or do i need to buy ver 15. hate to buy a program to just us it one time for this change over
I was wondering about that when I saw your first post, you never mentioned what version of Windows 7 your using.
I know that some people here are using it without any problems with 32bit windows & but I don't think it works with the 64bit versions.
I also can see a possible problem in that most SSD's are smaller than current hard drives in use. You may need to first use a partition resizing tool to shrink the source partition so everything will fit on the SSD. It doesn't matter that the data on the source drive is less than the capacity of the new drive, what matters in the physical location of that data. Windows likes to spread things out and put stuff on the end of the drive.
As for your installation problem, that depends on if your required to have a licence to create an image or restore an image.
I always thought the license was required to restore a system and thats why trial versions are availible.
both of the mirror drives are 250 GB and the new SSD is a 250 GB as well
at this point i might just bite the bullet and do the complete reinstall as it's starting to look like a lifetime project. not about to pay 69.00 for ver 15 to only use it one time
