I have the following needs:

To make an incremental backup every hour.

To save a copy, once a week ,of the backup at an other location. (Insurance terms)..

I thought that Ghost 14.0 should be perfect with offsite discs.

I have the following hardware:

DELL Precision 490 with two hard discs. 300 GB each. C: for data and D: for backups.

I have also two USB discs on 160 GB each with I have tried as offsite discs.

My problems is:

Problem 1:

Every 4 hours Ghost consolidate the backup files to 4 hours files and yesterdays files are consolidated to days level. This last steps makes the files corrupts on the offsite disks. Not on the D: disc. The files on the offsite is smaller then on the D: disc but have the same names as on the D: disc.

Problem 2:

When the offsite discs get full the oldest backup sets are removed to make place on the disc. But at the same time the D: disk is cleaned up to the same size as the offsite disc.

I have reported this problems to the support an got the answer that Ghost 14 get crazy if not all discs is online at the same time and I has choosen the wrong product. I should have bought Backup Exec instead.

Can I be sure that Backup Exec Desktop is working? It have the same concept. Why is Ghost 14.0 wrong product?
