Ghost 14.5 disabled after a security update (windows or Nortons)

Ghost 14.5 was disabled after a security update that occurred in the middle of the night and when I try to launch the program it tells me that there is a bad link to the Vpro console and a few mins ago I click yes or now to some question it asked me and now I don’t even have a program shortcut under the Ghost program list. For some time now whenever I rebooted I got numerous attempts by Windows to install Ghost and asks for the disk, over and over and due to work pressures…I just clicked no, no, no until the boxes went away and planned to get back to trying to figure it out when I had time. Problem is that my CD Rom isn’t recognizing the CD I made from the iso file Nortons gave me (or any other type of CD). At the time I made the disk…it was confirmed bootable. But the CD rom just isn’t reading any files now. So my problem is that I can’t use my Ghost backups…nor can I reinstall Ghost from CD. I have backup images on several different drives…but can’t use them. I am not sure if the CD-Rom problem of not reading pre-dated the hosing that the security update did to my PC since I rarely used the CD player. All I know is that I can not use my Ghost recovery disk I can’t use my ISO file because I can’t use my CD -Rom. I can’t access any of my backup images. Is there a solution for me short of buying a new CD/DVD burner that I really don’t use any more? I am not even sure if I need a new one since I am not sure that the security update didn’t screw up something affecting the CD -ROM and the only way to be sure is to reinstall my GHOST so that I can use my backup image made before the security update. This PC is running XP Home. I have another PC running Win7 if that would be helpful. I tried to extract the Ghost 14.5 iso file to a USB drive…but that didn’t work either. I really need to reinstall Ghost. so I can get this PC back up and running. It runs like crap right now and it is all due to that update. Any help appreciated.
