Starting a new thread for this problem since my old one is closed. Over the last couple of months I have had the ongoing issue of the incremental backups hanging up and showing that they were going to take 25 hours to complete. No problem. I would take following steps and then perform the backup again and everything would work for a while:
Type services.msc and press Enter.
- Right click the Norton Ghost service nad stop the service.
- Browse to the following folder and delete the catalog.dat file
- For Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\FileBackup
- Delete backup folders from my destination drive
- Delete defined backups in Norton
- Start over by redefining backups
Fastforward to a couple of days ago, the system was performing an incremental backup and had started hanging up again. I went through the above procedures and attempted to perform the backup again. No luck, it hung up..I've done it at least 3 more times and still the same result it is showing that the backup is going to take 25 hrs. At this point I'm about ready to throw in the towel. Am I missing something here. I've read all of the other threads on issues with incremental backups and understand that is an unexplained intermittent problem. What I can't understand is why I'm not able to get it work. I may uninstall an reinstall ghost to see if that does anything, but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.
