Hi there.
After a few weeks testing experience of my recently purchased Ghost 14, I have come up with some questions:
1) After a succesful restore of my system drive C: (Vista X64) from one of the latest differential backups sets, made only minutes before the restore started, the system once booted again, showed signes of missing files. Many many error messages, of missing files, etc.
So what I started restoring from older backups, but they all had the same problem, until I restored the first backup with the .v2i fileextention instead of the iv2i fileextention.
I started thinking, mm.. what's the cause of this.
Could it be that in Vista you need to set the FULL VSS backup option, if you want everyting to work, I mean: could you get in trouble if you don't set this, and start updating your system, installing programs etc, while Ghost is making a backup-set?
2) Is ghost 14 and all it's features included in Norton 360?
3) One of the main reasons I bought Ghost 14, was because it has a feature of online backups. I thought that it would be great to create a encrypted backup set of some of my folders and upload these using Ghost 14 (!) to some of my friends FTP sites. A Full backup of a drive, would simply be too much.
But now it seems that the 'other backup locations' feature is not available for file backups.
This is a big disapointment, together with the fact that incrimental backups did not work for me, altough I have (mis)trusted opon it for weeks. Maybe with the VSS option and Smartsector disabled, it might work now, Have to test it yet.
Well these are my findings for sofar, anyone got some answers?
Friendly greetings,
René Vaessen.
