How did you create it? Which program did you use to convert the ISO to a bootable CD? Thanks!
Tony thanks for replying - I didn't get an ISO I got a CD that looks pretty much like the Norton Ghost 14 CD
Autorun, Boot etc - I just checked and my laptop is happy to boot from it.
My PC is an ACER Vista home premium, with cd dvd burner using a standard microsoft driver.
It's new so I haven't been booting from anything else I will get out an XP install disk abnd see if it will boot.
The system does boot from a bootable CD but the Ghost 14 disk I created using 'Create Custom Symantec Recovery Disk in Norton Ghost 14'. This same recovery CD will boot fine on my laptop and put me into the recovery environment. Why won't it or the Ghost 14 disk itself boot on my Vista PC?
Thanks for any ideas...
Sorry my first sentence above is not clear. I have a valid recovery disk but my system won't boot from it. The system will boot from other Cd's such as Windows XP. The recovery disk works fine on my laptop.
???
Are you trying to boot your PC (with Vista) using the Custom Recovery Disk created for your laptop (with XP)? If yes, then you will not be able to boot from it as the drivers will be different for both the systems. You have to create a new Custom Recovery Disk for your PC(with Vista).

No it’s the opposite - I created the SRD on the Vista system. It won’t boot there but does boot on my XP laptop???
When you created the custom recovery disk on your Vista system, did it show any missing drivers? If yes, then did you locate the missing drivers to be included in the Custom Recovery Disk?
The only missing driver was for the miniport ethernet driver, I couldn’t locate it so I used the automatic option to create the SRD and it didn’t report any problems. I’m not using a network drive for backup so missing that driver shouldn’t be a problem in any case.
Immediately after creating the Custom Recovery Disk, you get an option to test the disk. Did you check the disk? Also let me know what happenes exactly when you try to boot from your Norton Ghost CD and the Custom Recovery Disk you have created.
I would suggest you to follow the instruction provided in the knowledge base article and create a new custom recovery disk again.

I hate it when this happens but it worked fine. I have no idea what went on before. I even restored a file just to be sure I could. Thanks very much for your advice and patience.
