Hello, I purchased Ghost 14 because of their advertisement of being capable of cloning Vista. I am trying to move my Vista system and boot disk to a larger and newer SATA disk. My Vista installation is not part of a Windows Domain, but simply a workgroup.

I have version 14.0.3.28361, I have followed the suggestions about setting the SymSnap service to manual, AND also added the Registry entry for SymSnapService.

On a simple disk backup, not even a disk copy I get the message:  This operation cannot be performed while windows is running. You must complete this operation inside the recovery environment.

For a system disk copy I realize it probably needs to be booted outside of Windows, but I did create a custom recovery CD to make sure all my drivers are included, and booted from the recovery CD - there is no "copy disk" option.

Avoid purchasing this product.

Forgive the ignorance, but the link to "what if this does not work" indicates to uninstall Ghost 14 and re-install again. Hmm, I would be installing from the exact same install CD that did not work in the first place, does the Install "knows": Ohh, this is the second install, so the feature about being able to run just a plain basic disk backup must have failed with "This operation cannot be performed while Windows is running" so THIS TIME we're going to install the missing feature.

The solution still stands: Do not purchase Ghost 14.
