I purchased a new laptop last week with Vista Basic SP2 (fully patched), and have been attempting to use Ghost to backup to an Apple Time Capsule over an 802.11n network. I have created all the necessary accounts on the Time Capsule for the Windows share, but there seems to be an issue when performing the backup. After a few minutes, the backup stops and eventually I’ll receive an error: The remote procedure call failed. Error 800706be running job Drive Backup of (C:). The Norton Ghost service is now stopped, and the Ghost client needs to reconnect after restarting the service.
This has happened everytime I attempted the backup even after re-installing both Ghost and the OS (and various firmware versions of the Time Capsule), I have seen anywhere from only 250MB get transferred up to almost 800MB, so the errors appear to be random. This failure sometimes results in Vista being unable to communicate with any Windows shares on the network from any device until the system is restarted.
I am able to perform this process from a desktop machine running Vista Premium connected via ethernet to the Time Capsule without a problem, so I know the necessary accounts are setup and that this is possible to do. The only difference appears to be that this attempt is over wireless and not ethernet. I tried backing off the transfer speed by moving the Performance slider to the left, but the same issue occurs.
I was hoping someone would have a clue on how I can accomplish this… last resort is to connect the laptop via Ethernet, but I don’t want this to be a requirement toperform backups.
Any help would be apprecated. TYIA.
