Did you also choose to mark the new drive as active? Did you change the pin settings on the new drive to master after the swap? If the pin setting is correct and you didn't mark the new drive as active, boot from the recovery disk and use the PQBoot utility.
I did not change the pin settings as it was on cable select. I removed the master and moved the target drive to the first port on the ribbon marked master. I did set the hard drive to active and I assigned a drive letter og F:
I dont know how to do the recovery disk or what you suggested.
Is there a doc I can look at.
Thanks for your help!!!!
OK
Thanks
I will give it one more try.
I was extremly cautious and followed directions step by step.
When I install the Ghosted drive I get nothing.
Other suggestions?
Just to be sure, what settings are you choosing when creating a disk to disk copy? Chapter 15 of the Norton ghost user guide has some detailed information on how to perform the copy:
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/ghost/14/manuals/ngh_14_user_guide.pdf
Please let me know if this helps. Thanks!
I found the answer.
Because my 8 g HD was originally formated with XP and FAT32 the block size would not translate to an 80g HD.
I converted the file system to NTFS (convert c:/fs:ntfs)
and all is well.
Ghost worked first time.
Thanks for all the support!
