Ghost 15: Disc Copy Won't boot

I have run a disc copy of my C: drive to an external hard drive running on a USB. I have mounted the new drive as "I:\", can see it in the XP Disc Management, can explore it in Windows Explorer and it all looks good. I set MBR to "Yes". All of the files are there, and it looks good. There is a single partition for the whole drive (320Gb, replacing the existing 250Gb drive).

When I put it in my machine, with the jumper set to slave (it is the only drive) the machine boots past the F2/ F12 screen and gets to the Windows XP screen, but does not display the "Loading windows" message and hangs.

I can see the drive correctly in the BIOS.

I know I must have done something wrong. I just don't know what.

I'm on XP, fully patched up with the latest releases on a Dell Dimension 5150C.

Help!

elongley,

I suspect you did Copy Drive into a partition with a drive letter.

Success?

Thanks. This looks like the problem, but I won’t know til I try it from home tonight.

Is this the screen where WinXP freezes?
