To start with I have used Norton products for years and I know that there are always some problems for some people. My wife just bought a new laptop that has Windows 7 64 bit, I have a laptop with Vista 64 bit. I bought the latest Ghost (15), NU, NIS 2010.. On my Vista 64 bit I did upgrades on all three and all work correctly as they had before. On my wife's laptop with Windows 7 64 bit the laptop came with a 60 day NIS program. When I installed NU I had no problems, when I updated NIS to 2010 I had no problems, but Ghost 15 which is a new install I have a problem with document (file-folder) back up. I get the famous Snapshot error %1, but the drive backups work just fine. I have done the vssproviderinstallx64.exe program as provided by Norton and have had no success. When I run the command prompt as administrator and type in vssadmin list providers all I see on the Windows 7 is Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider, nothing else. On the Vista when I run the list I get Symantec Software VSS Provider and the Microsoft one that is shown on the Windows7. I assume that since that the Windows 7 is missing the Symantec line that this is the difference between the two laptops. I have done the services.msc list and both have the required files. I have checked all vss writers and all are stable. What can I do to get Symantec recognized on the vss list?
