Ghost 15 not saving SMTP settings

Ghost 15's e-mail notification has been working for me for a long time.  Last week, it stopped working.  When I checked Norton Ghost.notify.xml in c:\program data, the SMTP section didn't have any of my custom data, and the port wasn't set to 587.  So, here's what I did:

 

---Edited notify.xml to set server port to 587.

 

--Re-entered my e-mail address info into the VProTray GUI.

 

--Clicked Apply and recv'd the confirmation e-mail msg. 

 

--Later in the day (prior to the next scheduled backup) rebooted my machine.

 

--This morning, no e-mail again.  Backups were successful.

 

--Went back into notify.xml -- server port 587 still there, no other SMTP info.

 

--Went back into the GUI -- no SMTP data found.  Re-entered, clicked apply, all is well.

 

--New this time: went back into notify.xml.  Still nothing there, timestamp from orig edit to add port 587 unchanged.

 

So:

 

 Is the SMTP info (username, pw, to addr, from addr, what kind of msgs to send, etc.) stored in someplace other than notify.xml?  If not, why doesn't clicking APPLY write out the info to c:\program data\Norton Ghost.notify.xml?  I'm wondering if the info doesn't survive a reboot b/c it's not written on disk.

 

I'm running the latest and greatest Ghost SP1 under Win 7.  File permissions on notify.xml look good to me -- and Ghost is updating other files in that directory.  Thanks for any help you can provide.
