I have perplexing issue. I have a 250MB WD drive that was starting to generate cyclic redundancy errors, so I decided to replace it. The OS on this drive is WinXP Pro. I have Ghost 10 (or 12... can't remember) on the Pro machine. It would not clone the active 250MB to a new 1TB WD drive I purchased and installed in this machine.
I then used Ghost 15 on my Win7 Home Premium PC to clone the 250MB to 1TB (both were inserted into a USB drive toaster w/2 SATA disk drive slots. The operation took several hours. Completed w/o errors.
This is when the problem starts: The "NEW" drive boots, you see the WinXP image on a (normal) blue background, but the system NEVER gets to the part where you have to log in?
What's worse... I re-installed the old drive... and now IT DOES THE SAME THING!!! Prior to this, the login screen/icon appeared.
Any insight/help would be appreciated. Bear in mind that I am not a Windows person... My background (last 25 years) is all UNIX (HP/Linux/SunOS/Solaris etc). For me, Windows is just something I need to have in order for my wife/kids to use for email/music/etc.
Thx in advance for any help/advice you can provide.
