Ghost 15 Recovery Point Mounting Question

I did a clean install a few  months ago of my O.S., which is Win7, 64 bit premium.

It gave me C:\ Operating System Internakl Drive

                  D:\ 2nd Internal Drive

                  K:\ External Drive (500 Gig)

L:\ External Drive (1 TB- backup drive)

I wanted to see if I could mount a drive and restore a file. Yes. Except when closing mounting window,  'K' is now J, AND 'L' IS K.

(every drive moved up one letter)

The backup defination changed to reflect this- it used to say, "backup on L:\Norton\My Backups now it say's it's on J:\Norton\My Backups.

It can keep changing all it wants, but is this normal/acceptable behavior??

I am trying to understand what is happening here...when you mount the image files, do the physical drive letters change, and then when you dismount them, they physical drive letters change again? Help me reproduce this on my end.
