Ghost 15 Recovery Problems - P.S.

This is a P.S. to the closed solution I started below.

I just performed a successful Image Recovery of all four partitions in my HP Pavilion dv6-7138us notebook PC described in the above thread – System, OS (C:), Recovery (D:) and HP Tools. Here are the steps I took line by line to save some reading time, although there is more to be learned from the above thread. The Image was Ghost 15 with all four Partitions and I used the free-trial SSR2013 SRD for recovery. As noted in message 34 above, I must create Images with all Partitions (hidden included) and restore all. Otherwise, I will experience the bugs mentioned earlier in this thread.

(1) Booted with SSR2103, (2) Recover My Computer, (3) View Recovery Points by System, (4) Highlighted Recovery Point and clicked Open, (5) at this window you will see a message that says “The drives will be restored to their original locations with their last recovery point unless you click “Edit” on the next screen to specify different options”, (6) Next, (7) All Four Partitions were already checked from Image selected, (8) Unchecked Verify Image before Recovery because I had verified when created, (9) Did NOT click Edit, (10) Next, (11) Checked Reboot when finished. Everything worked perfectly with none of the bugs noted previously in this thread.

This recovery was required because Norton Internet Security was corrupted by a successful Windows 7 System Restore that ONLY went back THREE DAYS – unbelievable! Since I have dialup Internet, it’s difficult to reinstall NIS because free Hi-Speed Wireless is currently not available at the Library and it’s a 50 minute drive to the next hotspot. Hopefully Norton will fix their security products so they work better with System Restore in the future. I have also noticed if NIS is not damaged with System Restore, I often must get the entire 250MB+ virus definition suite, even if the restore is less than 14 days old - the incremental updater limit.
