How do I restore backed up files on a computer (different from the computer which created the backups).
FACTS/ACTIONS TAKEN TO DATE:
1. Ghost 15 file backups and recovery points have been created (and stored on an external USB hard drive) for an HP Pavilion Elite System running the 64-bit Windows 7, Home Premium. The file backups cover a two-month period with the last file backup taking place on 5-16-10
2. At various times I’ve restored individual and groups of files from the external drive.
3. On 5-17-10 The HP crashed and is being shipped back to an HP Service Center for motherboard and hard disk replacement.
4. In the interim I needed groups of files backed up by Ghost 15. I installed Ghost 15 (without activation) on a notebook running Windows XP and connected the external USB hard drive.
5. On the Notebook, Ghost 15 “Recover Files” always yields “There are no results to display” no matter what search parameters are entered.
6. On the Notebook, using Symantec Recovery Point Browser, I can recover some files backed up on the external drive, but not the most recent files that were written by Ghost 15.
7. I have another desktop, which has 32-bit Windows 7. No version of Ghost is installed on that computer.
