When I start my computer, Norton Ghost 15 and (14 before I upgraded to 15) takes a long time = 3-5 minutes to scan my computer to determine if the disks are backed up. During this time, I cannot start some programs, particularly Outlook 2007.
Also, very often once this scan is completed, the Ghost taskbar icon shows a red X, indicating the computer is not backed up. When I right click on this and Open Norton Ghost, the Home window opens, it checks the backup destination drive and correctly reports the computer is backed up and the red button on the turns into a green button with a checkmark.
I am backing up the computer drives to an external firewire drive with plenty of empty space.
Why is this happening: why does it take so long to scan discs on startup and, more importantly prevent Outlook from starting? and why doesn't show the computer is backed up when it is?
Does anyone else experience these problems? Can they be fixed ... or at least corrected in SP2 if it is ever produced?
