I'm a new Norton Ghost (version 15) user. First backup was created with no problem. Next backup has been stuck at creating recovery point (1%) for the past 5 days. Any suggestions?

Welcome,
What is your operating system and what are the specs on your destination drive?
Thanks
My operating system is Windows Vista (ducking to avoid avalanche of rotting fruits/vegetables). The destination drive is a Western Digital Free Agent GoFlex 1TB external hard drive with 729 GB free space available.

Hi,
I'll type slowly so your system can keep up [ducking even lower] Is this the first backup on this drive? What is the format on the drive?
Thanks
The drive needs to be connected direct to the computer, no hubs.
I would think that you are running incremental backups which include "files and folders"
The problem is that Ghost is struggling to "Reconcile" the backup.
Clear the history and start again by running a "One Time Backup" from the "Tasks" menu.
When the OTB is complete and the history is cleared setup a new Base incremental backup and don't dot the circle for "Files and Folders" when defining new.
Just to remember that the history only relates to incremental backups, one time backups won't show in history and they are a simple one touch manual backup without any "complicated" settings to worry about.

Dickevans: The initial full backup when I first installed Norton Ghost was successful.
Format of the external drive? I don't understand. It is a drive I've been using for backup for about 2 years.

Deric: What do you mean by "clear the history"? I've gone through all the menus and don't see anything about history.

Lynn,
make sure that you enable show hidden files folders and drives via the view tab in Windows.
Go to Services (right click on computer icon, manage and services) and tab down the list and stop the Norton Ghost service.
Then navigate to eg. C:\programmedata\symantec\nortonghost\history and or schedules.
Look for the .pqh files and delete them all.
Restart the services or reboot the machine.
