My PC blue screened and became unstable a couple of days ago due to a faulty hard drive, so I reinstalled Windows 7 using the previous day's Ghost image. However ever since then I have been unable to get Ghost to back-up the C: drive. I can back-up other partitions on the hard drive and on other hard drives, but every time I try to back-up the C: drive I get the following message;
A test that safeguards the integrity of the program failed unexpectedly. PRECONDITION failed. LocalProgress::LocalProgress:.\LocalProgress.cpp(56):estimate.mUnits >=0
Doe any one have any suggestions? I have tried a re-install, but this has made no difference to the behaviour.
Did you restore the image (recovery point) to the same or a new HD?
I restored the image to the same HD.
However I have found out that the problem is a hardware compatibility problem. I am not certain if the fault lies with the RAID controller (High Point 3520) or with the HD. The HD is the new Western Digital Scorpio Blue 750GB which is using "advanced" formatting. I have substituted the 750GB drive for a 160GB drive which is using "normal" formatting and cloned the drive across to the smaller drive and everything is working again.
