Something seems to be missing from my copy.
How do I get it back? Note that this is a fresh install
Thanks

Holy crap, someone delete that picture. It has your serial number! You can download the latest version HERE. Maybe Live update wasn't installed when you installed Ghost?
If you see something like that Red, feel free to hit the report link.
I just saw it a little while ago.
No worries Dick, I'm sure you didn't notice it there. I would have sent you a PM but I could see you were offline.
My bad
It was late but no excuse
Thanks for the save

Dave,
Go ahead and send them anyway - email alert is usually on at home or work.
Stay safe

Still no update box
When you attempt to run LiveUpdate from the help > Run LiveUpdate, what exactly happens? Is LiveUpdate simply not there?
If not, open your control panel and click on Programs and Features. Locate and click on Norton Ghost, then click change, then click modify. Ensure that LiveUpdate is installed there by selecting it in the menu, then clicking Install Now.
Did I put enough 'thens' in the above paragraph? Ok then....

the program did its thing required a reboot
rebooted and still no joy
no way to run live update
Just to update things
I did a control panel uninstall of Ghost 15 - saving the settings, etc.
Rebooted and ran the install for Ghost 15.1
During the install the following error message was displayed. Clicked OK and install continued.
ERROR: Failed to have success running InstallVSSProvider function in MSIInstallVSSProvider Function
All seems well and appears to be functioning as expected.
BUT there is still no place to run live update

That error can't be good. I might be inclined to uninstall again followed up by the Norton Removal Tool (depending on what other Norton products are installed). Then shut down the computer, wait a minute to boot, then reinstall.
When you are doing the install are you choosing custom or just using the default? You may want to try custom and make sure Live Update is checked.

The following have been done:
Install 15.1 as an update over 15.0
reboot
Ininstall 15.0/1
reboot
Install 15.1 as new program - default
reboot
uninstall 15.1
reboot
install 15.1 as new program - custom, all features selected
reboot
I have NIS 2011 and NDS installed on this machine [my production unit]. I have an appointment with an employee to discuss the problem and possible fixes. Will bite the bullet and do the NRT thing as a last resort since it means reinstalling all my good toys again
I do appreciate the continuing assistance and interest. Some day I may even grow up and function like an adult - no way! too responsible a thing to do
Just finished a WEBEX session
The end result is that my current copy of Ghost was installed after my current copy of NIS. For reasons that are still unknown Ghost looked at the NIS copy of LU and determined that it was newer so it didn't install its ccopy of LU. The bad part of this is that NIS failed to recornize that Ghost was present/updated and didn't register it so that since it was installed I have not received any updates to Ghost.
The update problem has been solved for now And the automatic update problem has been turned in for solution.
I haven't tried installing Ghost on the beta machine to see if the problem exists there but I will shortly.
More when I know more.
Just installed Ghost 15.1 on the best machine and live update installed as expected. Ran live update and didn't get anything but the tab is present in the 'about' pane and can be run from there as well.
Now it's time to wait and see if I will still be able to run LU for Ghost after the next version of NIS is released and installed on my production machine.
Might try it with the beta on the test machine
